Someone told me that we’re supposed to “enjoy” the Holidays. There was a time in my life when I would have laughed at that. Enjoy? How’s that work? Holiday stress sends some to the bar, some to the doctor, some to bed.
Racing around to get the best deals on all the gifts for all the people on my enormous list. Having to attend numerous holiday parties (some given by people I don’t know well). Over-eating, over-drinking, over-tired. Cooking for guests, some of whom I only see once a year, thankfully. And being “happy” all the time.
Even the mention of “Holidays” is enough to send some of us looking for the xanax bottle.
So here’s my first tip for managing holiday stress and making the rest of 2014 a bit less stressful.
Carve out 10 minutes every day for yourself. Sit. Breathe. Just BE. Meditate, pray, contemplate your navel. It doesn’t matter. Just BE for 10 minutes a day. No phone, no tablet, no laptop, no TV, no kids, no interruptions.
If we have one of these around, I’d send you there. Watch this short video and I promise you’ll feel better.
Come on back in a few days for more ideas about reducing stress this time of year.
And, remember, stop by for Acupuncture Happy Hour on Mondays, from 4 – 6. The cost is only $10 (cash preferred) and it will be the best 45 minutes you’ll have all week.
Hope to see you soon.
